Our Company, which obtained the Waste Oil Supplemental Fuel License in 2005 for the prevention of the negative and environmental effects of the waste oil generated in Bursa and its surroundings and for the recovery of energy as energy, expanded the scope of the license in 2008 and added contaminated waste and paint sludge to the waste incineration menu. Thus, wastes that have lost their economic value and have a certain calorific value formed in various industrial sectors are evaluated as an alternative fuel besides the main fuel and used for energy recovery.
Bursa Cement Factory Inc. using alternative fuels and raw materials;
- Taking measures against global warming by reducing CO₂ emissions,
- Conservation of natural resources is ensured,
- It saves the Turkish Economy from the need for high investment costs of waste incineration plants,
- It ensures the disposal of wastes under appropriate conditions and eliminates the negative environmental effects,
- It creates added value to the country's economy by ensuring the recovery of wastes to the economy.
Our company; T.R. It has won various awards in recent years in the project competition for the efficient use of energy in industrial facilities organized by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Alternative Raw Material Use
Our factory has been saving the use of semi-finished clinker with the use of trass (natural pozzolan) for about 30 years and has been producing the clinker/cement factor at a rate of 70-75% from the 80s to the present. This ratio cannot be met by many factories of the European cement industry. In addition to the use of trass, the fly ash retained by the electro filters used for dedusting the combustion gases of thermal power plants is used as an additive in cement production according to the TS EN 197-1 standard.
Use of Alternative Fuel (Waste)
The issue of using alternative fuels for the purpose of energy and material recovery, which has been applied in the cement sectors of developed countries for many years, was initiated in our sector with the "Communiqué on the General Rules to be Followed in the Use of Wastes as Alternative or Additional Fuel in Cement Factories" published in our country in 2001.
Our factory, which started to use waste oils as additional fuel in 2005, continues its activities with the Environmental Permit and License Certificate obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in 2014.
Wastes that have lost their economic value and have certain calorific value formed in various industrial sectors are used as an alternative fuel besides the main fuel. Cement factory rotary kilns are operated at high temperatures of approximately 1400-1450 C° as a requirement of the process. Therefore, the wastes can be easily broken down into final combustion gases such as CO₂, H₂O and NOx, and the ash formed as a result of combustion can be attached to the product body without any effect on the cement quality. Due to the specified characteristics of the cement process, wastes have been used for energy recovery in the cement sectors of other developed countries such as Japan, EU and USA for many years.
General Acceptance Criteria
1. The waste producer is responsible for the accuracy of the waste codes notified to Bursa Çimento Fabrikası A.Ş. by the waste producer. All losses incurred by Bursa Çimento Fabrikası A.Ş. due to incorrect or misleading waste code notification will be compensated by the waste producer.
2. Wastes with permitted waste codes are accepted in the Environmental Permit License Certificate obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on 09.12.2014. Any waste other than this list is not accepted.
3. It is forbidden to contain radioactive and explosive materials in the wastes.
4. Waste acceptance is normally made between 9:00/9:30, 11:00/11:30, 13:00/13:30, 15:00/15:30 on weekdays. In case of making an appointment with the company management, admission can be made outside the specified hours.
5. Waste barrels, IBC (intermediate bulk container) etc. not accepted in packages. Waste is accepted in bulk, in bags and in bales.
6. The waste producer should be informed about the wastes that require special precautions in terms of occupational health and safety.
7. Our factory's scale measurement results will be taken as a basis in the notifications of the Ministry and in commercial transactions.
8. A contract can be made if requested by the waste producer or if our Company deems it necessary.
9. Ton price will be applied for all shipments under 1 tonne.
10. The offer sent by our Company before the waste shipment must be stamped and signed and sent to us together with the signature circular, tax plate and a copy of the Trade Registry Gazette. Otherwise, the waste acceptance process will not be carried out.
11. Sample must be taken before sending waste for technical acceptance. If the results of the analysis are appropriate, waste can be purchased.
12. The waste producer is obliged to notify the amount and delivery date of the wastes it plans to dispose of at least 1 day in advance. Otherwise, Bursa Çimento Fabrikası A.Ş. reserves the right not to accept the waste.
Hazardous Waste Special Acceptance Criteria
1. If available, the "Material Safety Data Sheet" of the waste must be submitted before the waste is sent.
2. If the wastes are to be transported/transported under the responsibility of the waste producer, transportation must be carried out with licensed transport vehicles and a vehicle driver with SRC 5 certificate, and the National Waste Transport form must be filled. The vehicle driver will be approved to make the shipment together with the SGK statement of the last month and the assignment letter written on the company's letterhead.

4. Licensed transportation vehicle service will be provided upon request.
5. The report of our laboratory will be accepted if the water content, other solutions and the calorific value of the waste oil are different from the waste manufacturer's declaration as a result of the analysis to be made during the acceptance phase.
6. In case of low flammability wastes such as solvents and gasoline in the waste oil, the waste oil shipment will be sent back to the waste producer.
